Entrance Exams: 7+ 10+ 11+ 13+

In preparing for such exams, the focus is upon 6 key areas:

  • Non-Verbal Reasoning
  • Spatial Awareness
  • Maths
  • Numerical Reasoning
  • Verbal Reasoning
  • English

Selected/private schools either concentrate on all or some of these areas.  Pending on which school(s) you are considering for your child, the relevant areas are studied.

Great emphasis is placed upon your child understanding & mastering the technique of these key areas.  The aim is for the student to become successful at working in a most efficient & effective manner, within a time-constrained situation to produce HIGH RESULTS.  This can be a tense, anxious time for both parents/guardians and pupils.  Here at Angell Learning & Development we drive towards success! To date, my success rate is in the higher echelons.

With great emphasis placed on mastery of technique, a number of books are used to widen the student’s understanding of the topics.  Materials used are:

  • Bond Assessment Papers
  • Letts Assessment Papers
  • GL Assessment Papers
  • CGP
  • AE Publications (11+ & Cognitive Abilities Testing (CATS))
  • Selected/Private schools’ 7+ / 10+ / 11+/ 13+ / entrance  exams’ past papers

WORK SHOPS

These are held during the half-term or major holiday breaks covering key topics in English and Maths which all children are expected to know for these exams.  Non-Verbal Reasoning and Spatial Awareness sessions are conducted, with the use of specialised learning games, created for these purposes.

MOCK EXAMS’ PREPARATION

Nearer the date of these exams, mocks are created for the student to assimilate an exam situation.  This way, they are introduced to the requirements of such an environment, and can adjust accordingly.
